United States Army Major Bill McCoy has recently published "Under Orders: A Spiritual Handbook for Military Personnel."
Major McCoy wrote and published "Under Orders" as a guide to faith for all men and women in uniform. It is his personal contribution to the spiritual needs of Soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
Major McCoy frames the book this way, "Military personnel number nearly two million today. For most of them, religion and faith are things they shoved to the back of their minds when they entered the military but quickly resurfaced when real missions come face to face with individual names and long deployments."
Major McCoy understands the tough job our service members have when deploying into harm's way. He served in Iraq for nearly a year and a half with two of his own sons.
He knows the pains, the pressures and the prayers many of these young people experience. He believes any faith is better than no faith and that young people in the military are in the best position of all to experience faith because they inherently understand the concepts most others struggle to discover. "Today's military service members are common heroes on the cutting edge of an uncertain future. This handbook helps them think through their faith, reflect on their choices, and guide them as they come close to danger and the fears ahead." Major Bill McCoy has written in his new book.
Under Orders is unique. There isn't another book that helps our deployed service-members to understand the turbulent world and the tests of the battlefield like this one. His work takes them by the hand and leads them towards faith. Major McCoy serves as the Chaplain for the U.S. Army's Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Previously he has ministered to soldiers in the 10th Mountain Division, 25th Infantry Division and 1st Armored Division. He has been ordained in ministry since 1977. Major McCoy has a Ph.D. from the University of Strasbourg France.
